Bharwan Bhindi, also known as stuffed okra, is a delicious Indian dish that can be served as a side dish or as a main course. Here's a recipe to make Bharwan Bhindi at home:

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of okra (bhindi)
  • 2-3 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of fennel seeds (saunf)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder (dhania)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder (jeera powder)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder (lal mirch)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons of gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of amchur powder (dried mango powder)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of Harichand Bharwan Bhindi  masala powder
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped coriander leaves (dhania patta)

Instructions:

  1. Wash the okra and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. Trim the ends and make a lengthwise slit in the center, keeping the base intact.

  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and fennel seeds. Once the seeds start to crackle, add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and red chili powder. Mix well.

  3. Add the stuffed okra to the pan and stir-fry for a few minutes. Add salt to taste and mix well.

  4. Add 2-3 tablespoons of gram flour to the pan and mix well, ensuring that the okra is coated well with the flour.

  5. Cook the okra for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and cooked through.

  6. Add amchur powder and Harichand Bharwan Bhindi masala powder to the pan and mix well.

  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.
